The Children's Hospital at HCMC

The Children’s Hospital at HCMC includes the acute care unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, newborn nursery, and Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Our inpatient acute care unit is a 16 bed unit which specializes in the care of infants and children. We offer a safe and secured unit with private rooms, a play room, computer access, electronic entertainment options, arts and crafts, and lots of toys and games. As you walk through the halls of our unit, you will likely hear and see staff and volunteers playing, reading, making art, or singing with our special patients. With generous support from Central Roofing, we also provide a weekly evening meal for families of hospitalized children, to provide comfort and support during their stay.

Our multidisciplinary team includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, social workers, therapists, child life specialists, and chaplains. We are dedicated to meeting the physical, developmental, and emotional needs of the children in our care, and make every attempt to make your child’s hospital stay as comfortable as possible. Our unique, tightly-knit team works closely together, partnering with our patients and families every day. We take small steps to provide big comfort to our patients, like using numbing medications to take away the fear and pain of needle pokes, or allowing a parent to hold her child during an IV start.
